Jonathan Thursby

Chief Executive Officer

Epic Studios Broadcast founder and serving CEO, Jonathan comes from a diverse background which stretches the industries of television and energy. He began his career designing and manufacturing industry-standard fixed rig cameras for motorsport racing, capturing never seen before footage of in-cockpit racing action. It was through a passion for motorsport and his knowledge of state-of-the-art camera design for extreme environments that served as entry point to the television broadcast industry. This soon led to his providing video technology for television productions such as Top Gear and live racing including Formula One and Powerboat.

Always at the forefront of technology, Jonathan soon identified a gap in the Oil & Gas market for high-calibre, durable cameras for offshore oil well applications which led to the establishment of Epic Studios’ previous parent organisation Extreme Video – a company still at the forefront of downhole visual analytics under current direction as EV.

Fast forward to the present day and Jonathan has once again rekindled his passion for television broadcast by staying true to his vision of once again turning Epic Studios into a broadcast centre of excellence. Always pushing for the absolute best quality and service in all filming productions, under Jonathan's direction Epic Studios bridges the relationship between technological excellence and filming precision.

Alex Thursby

Drone/Ronin Operator

Alex is a highly skilled member of our broadcast team, bringing a strong technical background and a wealth of on-set experience across the camera department. With four years of experience as a Focus Puller, Alex has built a reputation for precision, reliability, and a deep understanding of camera systems and workflow.

Specialising as a 2nd camera and gimbal operator, Alex has worked extensively on large-scale drama and reconstruction productions for October Studios, along with credits for major clients such as the BBC, Channel 4, and Discovery ID. His work has taken him to a variety of international filming locations, giving him confidence and adaptability in demanding environments.

A fully licensed drone pilot, Alex is highly proficient in capturing high-quality aerial imagery and has a broad skill set spanning sound, lighting, grading, and editing. He also manages the broadcast rental division, ensuring clients receive industry-leading equipment and exceptional technical support.

Ben Bailey

Lighting and Camera professional

Based in Norwich, I work with Epic Broadcast as a versatile lighting and camera professional. My primary role is as a gaffer/spark, supporting productions across drama re-enactments, commercial projects, and social content. With a strong technical foundation and an eye for creative lighting, I help bring visual concepts to life in a wide range of narrative and branded environments. Alongside my lighting work, I also operate as a camera assistant for multiple companies, with experience spanning sports broadcasts and reality television.
